About
This site is for anyone interested in learning about Middle Eastern Dance, otherwise known as Bellydance. I will be adding information about the History, Music, Influential Bellydancer's, Costuming, Props etc. It is my interpretation and a Western look at this engaging Art form. I will be adding links to other sites with their information, and approach. I have been learning this for only 15 years, and only scratched the surface, but I feel I have a talent for passing on the dance as I have learned it. I have spent time with a wide range of talented Dancers and Teachers to gain as much knowledge as possible. It is an ongoing learning curve for me, which I want to share with you. So join me on this fascinating and enthralling journey.
Who am I ?
Hi, I am Dawn Everest, an experienced performer and teacher of Bellydance. I love an earthy style of dance with feeling and emotion but also I also inject great fun and enthusiasm which I project to my students and audience.
I am JWAAD and Hipsinc trained to teach Bellydance safely. I am fully insured and have my appropriate PRS and PPL license. I taught 5 classes a week on the mainland in the Kent and Surrey area's. I am now based on the Isle of Wight.
I have danced and performed in London at Planet Egypt, Silk Route, Arabesque Nights, The Arab Quarter to name a few. I have also produced my own Bellydance Shows..Rhythms of the Nile, Dreams of the Nile and Secrets of the Nile, in which myself, my Students, Troupe and guest Professional Dancers starred.
I have attended many specialist Workshops and trained privately with both International and UK based Bellydancer's to advance my knowledge and understanding of this wonderful Dance. This knowledge I pass onto my students.
Due to my changed lifestyle I now only teach one (full) class per week, and occasionally offer Workshops (please see my Events page).
My classes are relaxed, fun, but packed full of technique all in a safe environment. I aim this class for ALL women, regardless of ability, age, size, shape or background. I feel I am encouraging, patient and unbiased.
